ATHLETIC SHOES

Got a few too many pairs of athetic shoes lying in closets and the garage?  Don't toss them in the trash, they can be put to good use.

If the shoes are in decent condition donate them to area thrift stores.  If they have seen better days, take clean and dry shoes to Gallagher Fitness at 233 Commercial St. NE in Salem.  They will be ground up and used as a surface for school tracks across the nation.  Call (503) 364-4198 for more information.

 


SPECIAL NOTICE!!!!

MetroPaint is looking for a humanitarian organization that can use colors of MetroPaint that have been slow sellers locally.
The colors include mauve, pink, light green, khaki, and gray. 
The paint is filtered to use in spray equipment, packaged in five-gallon buckets and shrink wrapped on pallets of 24 or 36 pails.
(Individual pails of paint will not be given away.)  The paint must be used for community benefit.

It cannot be re-sold.  And Metro cannot provide transportation.

    "Found Sharps" Drop-Off Sites

       This program provides for the free drop-off of syringes found by the general public throughout the community.  Prior to this important program, found syringes were often discarded in garbage carts and recycle carts; which is against Oregon state law, or simply thrown aside; which constitutes a major public health risk.  Anyone finding such syringes should pick them up cautiously, deposit them into a rigid container with a lid, such as a metal coffee can and take them to any of the 22 drop-off sites listed below:

A 1/4 mile outdoor nature trail with exceptional exhibits and education relating all the exhibits to the importance of recycling to save the environment.
Fun and educational for all ages (geared toward  school aged children) but most adults will have fun too
