Can I Recycle If It's Raining? Recycle rain or shine here in beautiful Oregon! Once your recyclables are properly prepared, place them at the curb in our convenient red recycle basket and blue (Salem & Keizer) or red (Silverton) automated rollcart. Do not place the basket directly into a mud-puddle or soggy grass. (Click here to go to Curbside Recycling information)

Where Is The Dump? We call 'em transfer stations! There are two in Marion County. They are not actually dumps (like a landfill). We transfer municipal waste to a Waste-to-Energy Facility in Brooks, Oregon. Waste is incinerated and electrical energy is created from the process. The transfer stations can be found at the following locations:

Salem/Keizer Transfer and Recycling Station

3250 Deerpark Drive SE.
Take the Gaffin Rd. exit off Hwy 22 (Mission St. going east from Salem)
Hours: 8am-5pm seven days a week excluding all major holidays
(New Years, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day).

North Marion Transfer and Recycling Station

17827 Whitney Lane NE, Woodburn.
On the north side of Crosby Rd., just west of I-5.
Hours: 8am-5pm Monday through Saturday only.
Closed major holidays (see above).

Can I Recycle Plastic Lids? Lids from rigid plastic containers like: margarine and yogurt tubs can be included with curbside plastics. (Click here to go to Curbside Recycling)

What Can I Do With My Extra Leaves? (autumn season) For Salem and Woodburn residents, place them into the large yard debris cart for weekly collection until they are gone. (Click here for Residential Service Packages) Use them to start your own compost pile. It's great for flowerbeds!  (Want more info?) Can I Recycle Telephone Books? Both transfer stations in Marion County accept phone books for recycling year-round. (Click here for: Locations)
